We have specialist family lawyers to advise you and help to resolve the issues.
We can advise on the following:-
Dissolution of a civil partnership
Issues relating to children
The impact of a Pre-nuptial agreement
We aim to offer a professional and efficient service with compassion and understanding of the particular difficulties you are experiencing.
We appreciate that the cost of obtaining legal advice is often a consideration.
We therefore ensure that we offer a clear pricing structure which is discussed and agreed with you prior to any work being carried out.
In certain circumstances, we may be able to assist you on a fixed fee basis. We also offer competitively priced fixed fee appointments should you wish to simply attend for an initial appointment to obtain general advice. There is no pressure for you to instruct us thereafter.
Frequently asked questions:-
Can I get a divorce/dissolve my Civil Partnership?
Yes, if you have been married for more than one year.
On what grounds can I issue divorce proceedings?
The marriage/partnership must have irretrievably broken down (no chance of reconciliation). You must then prove one of the following facts:-
o adultery (not available for Civil Partnership applications)
o unreasonable behaviour
o desertion (two years)
o two years separation with the consent of both parties
o five years separation
We can of course advise you of the details required within the Divorce Petition.
How long will it take?
Usually between four to six months for a straightforward divorce/dissolution.
Will I have to go to court?
Not if the case is straightforward. The process is usually a paperwork procedure unless one party defends the divorce/dissolution.
What about the finances?
We can advise you in relation to the division of property, investments, pensions and income.
